Hold ⊞ Win, tap I — Settings opens.

Or click Start and type 'microphone'. The Win key is bottom-left, between Ctrl and Alt.

Steps in text

  1. Hold ⊞ Win, tap I — Settings opens.
  2. Click Privacy & security in the sidebar.
  3. Scroll to App permissions and click Microphone.
  4. Turn on Microphone access at the top — this is the master switch for the whole PC.
  5. The master toggle turns blue — microphone access is now on for the whole PC.
  6. Below, make sure the specific app you're using.
