Click cell B2.

Excel freezes everything above and left of the cell you pick. B2 has row 1 above it and column A to its left — so both freeze.

Steps in text

  1. Click cell B2.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Click Freeze Panes.
  4. Choose Freeze Panes.
  5. Scroll anywhere — row 1 and column A both stay put.
  6. Done — your headers and your first column stay visible wherever you scroll.
